About Festival
International Folklore Festival “Rahovche” is placing the following goals: to provide the opportunity for dancers to express themselves, to familiarize them with the culture and traditions of the other peoples, to make stable friendships, to raise the national self-consciousness, and not at last place to meet the audience with the folklore of the foreign countries, and to aid development of festival tourism in Gorna Oryahovitsa.
In IFF “Rahovche” are taking part foreign and Bulgarian groups. The festival follows the usual plan for similar kind of events: 6 evening concerts, including the festival’s official opening ceremony and last concert, 2 defiles and animations in the town’s streets. It’s also foreseen a culture program for the foreign guests with visiting historical, natural and culture sights of the region. The foreign groups will be welcome by the major of the municipality Gorna Oryahovitsa. The program includes also evenings of the friendship and other common activities between foreign and Bulgarian groups.
IFF “Rahovche” is the culmination of the Community Centre “Bratya Grancharovy’s” activity for every creative season. This is the biggest and the greatest event which the Community Centre is organizing. It’s one of a kind in region Veliko Turnovo. Groups from Serbia, Romania, Ukrain, Poland, Slovakia, Turkey, Georgia, Armenia, Latvia, Greece, Macedonia have taken part in IFF “Rahovche”.
The successful formula of the festival is that every foreign group has its Bulgarian partner as this supports achieving the goals of the festival. And that’s exactly to make stable relationships between guests and hosts. Other expected (and proved) effect of the festival is the awaking of the culture life in Gorna Oryahovitsa. The presence of the foreign groups and guests in the town, which in other way couldn’t praise with temporary tourism, definitely influences well on the economical and social life.
The festival continues one week full of all kinds of events, which leave permanent mark on people who took place in it, also on the audience, who touched the dance art.
